Breif History Of Calsonic Wanderers Bowling Club

  1986Club founded as a sporting section of Llanelli Wanderers Rugby Football Club, with green facilities at Llanelli Town Hall Park (Parc-y-Dre) lower green.

  1989Entered 3rd Division of Llanelli Bowls League as Llanelli Wanderers Bowls Club.   1992Lower green at Parc-y-Dre was closed to provide additional car park facilities for Llanelli’s Leisure Centre.   1993Transferred to the then Morris Motors bowling green following of the disbanding of the Morris Motors bowling club, the new green is situated on the site of the Calsonic Kansei Sports & Social Club at Llethri Road, Felinfoel, Llanelli.   1996Due to major efforts to improve the green by the bowls members, the Calsonic Company offered the bowls club the use of the Calsonic name and logo and the name of the bowls club was renamed to Calsonic Wanderers Bowls Club.   1997/ 2002The playing status of the club improved steadily with promotion to the Premier Division in the 2002 season.   2003/2006Since 2002 the club have enjoyed playing in either the Premier or 1st Division.   OverviewThe improved standard of the playing surface of the green and facilities offered by the Sports & Social Club (Bar, Meals and Live Entertainment) makes the club an attraction for prestigious tournaments and touring bowls clubs. The 2006 season saw numerous tournaments held at the club by Llanelli & District League and the Carmarthenshire County BA.
